Tony Schiavone, the former WWE and WCW announcer who now provides the voice for MLW, will be doing play-by-play commentary for the NWA 70th anniversary main event match between champion Cody and Nick Aldis.
The 60-year-old announcer worked for Jim Crockett Promotions for six years hosting the NWA’s World Championship Wrestling studio show so his association to the NWA is certainly nothing new.
Schiavone did WWE commentary for one year before moving to WCW in 1990 and became the lead commentator for WCW Monday Nitro’s entire run. While he was mocked for his constant use of the words “the greatest” and “in the history of our sport,” Schiavone held up his own on the commentary booth when teaming up with the likes of Bobby Heenan, Larry Zbyszko, Eric Bischoff, and others.
Tony now does commentary for Major League Wrestling’s Fusion show on beIN Sports.
