Wrestling legend Terry Funk has passed away at the age of 79. The news was first revealed by Ric Flair in a post on X.
“In my entire life, I’ve never met a guy who worked harder. Terry Funk was a great wrestler, entertainer, unbelievably fearless, and a great friend,” Flair wrote. “Rest in peace my friend Terry Funk knowing that no one will ever replace you in the world of professional wrestling!”
No cause of death has been announced yet but Funk was suffering from dementia over the past few years.
Funk started his wrestling career in 1965 and wrestled for countless promotions around the world throughout his long and illustrious career, including WWE, WCW, AJPW, NWA, and of course ECW.
He is remembered by many as one of the most hardcore individuals to step foot inside a wrestling ring and his legendary feuds against the likes of Ric Flair, The Sandman, Sabu, Mick Foley, Tommy Dreamer, and others are certainly part of wrestling history.
The former ECW champion was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.
