Strikeforce: Rousey vs Kaufman full live report

San Diego California is going to be the host for tonight’s Women’s Bantamweight Championship as Ronda Rousey defends the title for the first time as she takes on former champ Sarah Kaufman. In the co-main event former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza faces a 9-1 Derek Brunson.

Lightweight(155lbs)
Matt Ricehouse vs Bobby Green

Bobby “King” Green comes out to the cage with a crown on, an American flag and arm full of crowns for the crowd.

Round 1-
Ricehouse catches a kick and trips Green momentarily before he pops back up. Green catches the leg kick now of Ricehouse. Green with a good left hook. Green with a left jab. Green grabs a plum clinch just long enough to land a lifting knee to the head of Ricehouse. Green is coming forward and has his hands down for the most part other that to try and swat away the punches of Ricehouse. Ricehouse gets dropped by a right. Green pouring it on. is landing the right uppercut now a knee to the body. Green ducks under the right head kick from Ricehouse. Green catches a kick from Ricehouse delivers a leg kick of his own and trips Ricehouse for the take down to score before the round ends.

Round 2-
Green is able to mix it up well with the left hand and getting the clinch when they are close for the knee. Ricehouse tries for a take down but Green flings him off. Green catches another kick and attempts a take down but Ricehouse threatens a choke and Green lands two knees to the body. Ricehouse lands the right hand now after a knee to the body. Green walking down Ricehouse lands a left jab and two right hands to the body. Green with another left jab. Green eats a knee this time to the body from Ricehouse.
Green gets his back and drags Ricehouse to the canvas. Ricehouse gets him off his back and Ricehouse putting pressure against him against the cage.

Round 3-
King Green is easily up two rounds entering the last round. Ricehouse now pressing the action and lands a good three punch combo. Green counters and now has Ricehouse circling the outside again. Green with uppercuts against the cage. Green gets the single leg briefly. Green with another knee to the body as they break. Green with a switch kick after a lower lead leg kick lands clean and yet Ricehouse is still on his feet. Green with a right hook and right uppercut. Ricehouse ties up Green but can’t get the take down. Ricehouse now with a good left right in the final minute mark. Green has controlled the center for almost the entire fight and kept Ricehouse about a step away from the cage.

Women’s Featherweight(145lbs)
Germaine de Randamie vs Hiroko Yamanaka

Round 1-
Yamanaka pumping that jab while de Randamie looks like she wants to land one big right and end it. de Randamie finally throws it but the over right hand is partially blocked. de Randamie with a left jab and right hook behind it. Yamanaka lands that jab again. de Randamie can’t find a home for that right until now and Yamanaka blinks deep but stays up. de Randamie with a right cross now. Yamanaka is still standing and eats a left she wants to stand and trade now. They both swinging away until they tie up and Yamanaka moves her up against the cage. de Randamie and Yamanaka jockeying back and forth. Yamanaka with a knee to the body and legs. de Randamie has a high head kick just blocked right before the horn.

Round 2-
Both ladies trading leg kicks early in the round. Yamanaka with a lot of movement. She is trying to keep from being a stationary opponent in front of de Randamie. de Randamie with another right hand and Yamanaka is still standing. Yamanaka gets the tie up and trying to drag de Randamie down but de Randamie is firing away the short punches to the head and bouncing well. de Randamie bounces backwards across the cage on one leg as Yamanaka tries for the take down. 90 seconds left and the ref separates them. Yamanaka with a left but eats one her self. de Randamie with a lunging overhand right that sends her momentum across the cage. de Randamie with another big right as the round ends.

Round 3-
de Randamie with a right hand to start the round. Yamanaka tries for the take down and de Randamie lands the left that creates a mouse on the cheek of Yamanaka. Yamanaka misses with a superman punch. Yamanaka rushes de Randamie and presses her against the cage. Yamanaka is working hard but can’t seem to get the take down. Fight is stopped now for a low blow to de Randamie from the knee of Yamanaka and ref gives her five minutes. de Randamie with a right hand now left and right. de Randamie wants to stand and trade. Yamanaka things the wiser after a couple punches and she puts de Randamie on the cage. de Randamie is landing that straight left and big right hook behind it. Yamanaka is giving into the idea now but she is getting the worst of it. de Randamie with a head kick but only the toes landed clean.

Middleweight(185lbs)
Keith Berry vs Adlan Amagov
Ref: Herb Dean

Round 1-
Amagov with a spinning back kick to the body. Amagov with a side kick to the knee and Amagov gives chase and starts pounding away. Herb Dean jumps in and stops the fight. Replay shows that side kick lands clean to the knee. Which leads to the next question on legality because of the damage that kick can do to someones leg permanently.

Womens Bantamweight(135lbs)
Julie Kedzie vs Miesha Tate

Tate now going by the nickname of “Cupcake” is making her return to the cage 6 months after it was dislocated by Rousey when she took the championship.

Round 1-
Tate gets in close as she looks for a tie up and Kedzie lands the left jab and a right. Kedzie with an upper cut now. Kedzie with the hook as Tate comes forward with the superman punch. Tate has her tied up on the fence now. Kedzie is able to reverse it and lands the left elbow and right hand before she steps back and lands a kick to the body. Tate shoots a double and Kedzie is able sprawl and swims over to side and than north south before she lets her up. Kedzie with a right hand and she sprawls to defends another take down. Kedzie sprawls out of another take down and gets Tate on the fence and lands an elbow. Kedzie with a side kick that drops Tate. Tate with an arm bar and as Kedzie pulls back Tate switches it to a triangle now from the top but the horn ends the round.

Round 2-
Tate with a right hand now. Kedzie lands the left jab as Tate comes in. Kedzie lands the left head kick now. Tate ties up Kedzie and Kedzie lands a serious of plum clinched knees. Tate gets her down and Kedzie immediately has her in a triangle. Kedzie switches to a shoulder lock. Kedzie tries for a leg lock but Tate takes her back. Tate locks on the body triangle now. Kedzie trying to dump her off the front. Tate sees her neck extended and Tate gets the RNC. Kedzie gets on to her back and gets her head free. Tate is in the mount but Kedzie sweeps her into the guard. Tate with a guillotine now and Kedzie gets to her feet. Tate puts Kedzie back on her butt against the cage. Kedzie is unable to get up before the round ends.

One round apiece now.

Round 3-
Kedzie with a leg kick that drops Tate. Kedzie sprawls free from another take down. Kedzie with another leg kick and Kedzie kicks her in the head and drops her. Kedzie shoots in and is dropping elbows and hammer fist. Tate gets her legs up and latches on to the arm. Kedzie with hammer fist as she keeps her weight on top of Tate. Tate holding on tight. Tate gets it Kedzie is able to use her foot to get her hand free but she is still pinned under Tate’s legs. Tate gets a hold of the arm again and this time Kedzie taps out.

T.J. Cook vs Ovince Saint Preux

Round 1-
Saint Preux with a left head kick and Cook with a left hook to the body and misses on the right. Saint Preux with another kick. Cook now with a nasty stepping inside leg kick. Saint Preux goes back to the head with a kick and Cook with another stepping inside leg kick. They tie up but no one gets the advantage. Saint Preux with a left hook that drops Cook. Saint Preux with left upper cuts and ground and pound the ref is letting them go. Cook gets up and hurts Saint Preux with a right hand. Cook has Saint Preux on the fence and is delivering the short right hand. Saint Preux hurts Cook with a right now. Saint Preux gets the take down and is in half guard. Saint Preux with short elbows now. Americana now from Saint Preux and Cook gets his hand free. Saint Preux gets the mount and Cook escapes out the back.

Round 2-
Both men stand and look at each other in the first 30 seconds Saint Preux with a body kick. Saint Preux with another after the ref tells them to pick up the action. Saint Preux with a head kick that grazes Cook. Cook lands an uppercut and Saint Preux with a lunging jab. Neither men looking like they want to really get into it again and Saint Preux nails Cook in the cup with an inside leg kick. Cook telling the ref he isn’t ready to continue and the ref is trying to press him back into action after a minute. Saint Preux goes for a head kick and Cook ducks under and lands the counter right hook. Saint Preux shoots the double and gets it. Cook with his feet against the cage and Saint Preux now in side control. Saint Preux working for a north south choke abandons it and goes back to side control. Saint Preux has got the mount position and sits up and starts pounding away until Cook gives up his back and than has to roll back onto his back and Saint Preux threatens a side choke but the round ends.

Round 3-
Saint Preux with the straight left and resets before he follows it with a left hook that knocks Cook out cold to end the fight.

Middleweight(185lbs)
Anthony Smith vs Lumumba Sayers
Ref: Herb Dean

Round 1-
Smith with a big looping right that Sayers ducks under and drags Smith down. Smith reverses and gets the mount position and is punching away while staying close. Smith working the elbows in now and looks to have busted open Sayers. Sayers with some punches from the bottom. Smith unhooks his legs and Sayers escapes. Sayers with a big shot as they split and Sayers is bleeding from high on the side of the head. Sayers ducks under a big punch and Anthony Smith misses and falls retreating. Sayers goes for the attack and Smith was waiting and locks on a quick triangle immediately and Sayers taps.

Winner by submission to a triangle choke at 3:52 of round 1 Anthony Smith

Welterweight(170lbs)
Roger Bowling vs Tarec Saffiedine
Ref:Jason Herzog

Round 1-
Saffiedine takes a leg kick and left hook to the body. Bowling is ducking in and out now. Bowling keeps going to the body with that left hand. Bowling with a right hand and left kick. Saffiedine gets a hold of the plum and delivers the knee. Bowling with a left up top and one to the body. Saffiedine ties him up and Bowling gets him against the cage before separating. Bowling goes to the body and Saffiedine gets the clinch and pair of knees. Bowling presses him up against the cage. Bowling with a pair of right hands as he chases after Saffiedine. Saffiedine has Bowling on the fence now and is kneeing away. They reset and Saffiedine with a head kick now and Bowling throws the left and Saffiedine delivers an outside lower leg kick.

Round 2-
These two top strikeforce welterweights are back at it and Bowling starts the action with another big left hook to the body. Bowling gets poked in the eye and they break the action. He tells the doc he is good and they are back at it. Bowlimg with a big left kick high on the body and Saffiedine with a leg kick. Saffiedine eats a left and right but counters with a left of his own that lands clean. Saffiedine switches stances and delivers a right left and right leg kick before he puts Bowling against the cage. Saffiedine with the knees and gets reversed and briefly taken down. Saffiedine putting his weight against Bowling to see if he tires any sooner from the big weight cut. They reset and Bowling makes a brief charge before Saffiedine walks him down. Saffiedine with a good straight left as the round ends.

Round 3-
They touch gloves both kick. Saffiedine is coming forward but Bowling isn’t backing up and delivers a body kick that backs up Saffiedine. Saffiedine with a knee as Bowling attacks. Bowling with a right jab and left hook to the body. Saffiedine with a knee as Bowling comes in for another body shot. Very close fight. Bowling with another body kick. Saffiedine with a spinning kick attempt and Bowling ties him up but can’t get the take down. Bowling now has his back on the fence and Saffiedine is kneeing away to legs body and head. Saffiedine with two to the body and two uppercuts as they separate. Saffiedine sprawls on a take down and spins to the back of Bowling and gets the hooks in. Saffiedine punching away with 30 seconds left. Saffiedine gets the choke in but Bowling survives till the last horn. Saffiedine took the fight in the last minute there all the first two rounds were close but that one was clear.

Middleweight(185lbs)
Derek Brunson vs “Jacare” Souza

Brunson’s lone loss came at the hands of Kendall Grove when he took a fight outside of the Strikeforce organization to stay busy back in June since he hadn’t fought since the previous November.

Round 1-
Brunson with a few high head kicks early but Souza easily blocks. Souza catches him with a right hand and Souza lets him up only to hit him with another right to drop him again and pounds him out. Souza does the alligator crawl across the cage after picking up his first win by KO.

STRIKEFORCE WOMEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Sarah Kaufman vs Ronda Rousey
Ref: Herb Dean

Round 1-
Rousey with a series of jabs and grabs a hold of Kaufman against the cage. Rousey gets the trip and moves right into position for the arm bar. Kaufman is rolling trying to defend by holding her bicep but she can’t fight it for long as Rousey gets her 6th pro win and 6th win by arm bar submission all in the round 1.

Winner at :54 of round one by arm bar submission and STILL Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey

Rousey calls out Cyborg, who is still suspended, and says she is the champ so if Cyborg wants her than she can come down to 135.
