2020 Money in the Bank PPV Pick’em report

Hey everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA with you for the PPV Pick’em report. Tonight, it’s Money in the Bank, and we are starting our FOURTH year of the Pick’em report with the legendary WOPC Champion Colin Vassallo. Thanks brother for bringing me onboard back in 2017! I appreciate that you let me and my friends come on here and have a good time. Here’s to another great year, and hopefully after tonight…the start of my second reign as WOPC Champion!

Tonight, we’ve got five of the tuffest, ruffest pick’em kings looking to climb the CORPORATE LADDER to become (or keep) the Undisputed WOPC Championship. Colin held the title through WrestleMania, so let’s see if he can keep his Undisputed Championship tonight against four challengers! They are The Renegade, Heel Turn Tom, Brother Bull, and yours truly. One last note: The Money in the Bank Ladder Matches are worth a whopping 3 points for each correct pick!

So with that, ON WITH THE SHOW!

Jeff Hardy vs. Cesaro

Colin: Jeff Hardy wins this match.

Tom: I’ll take Jeff Hardy in this one.

Magnum: Jeff Hardy is being set up to build someone else down the road…so I’ll take Hardy tonight and expect him to return the favor sometime this summer.

Renegade: Give me Jeff Hardy.

Brother Bull: I actually like Cesaro in this match-up! I’m going to take him.

MVP vs. R-Truth

Colin: I’m rolling with MVP.

Tom: I’m also going to take MVP.

Magnum: I’m not sure what MVP is trying to build with these young talents, but I like the direction he’s going. I’ll take MVP tonight and we’ll see what happens from there.

Renegade: MVP FTW.

Brother Bull: Yeah, this is MVP’s match. Good to see him back on PPV!

Fatal 4 Way for the WWE Tag Team Championship (Smackdown)
The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston) (c) vs. The Miz and John Morrison vs. The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler, Jaxson Ryker, and/or Wesley Blake) vs. Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado)

Colin: I’ve often said how much I hate having The New Day winning the titles every couple of months but they just won them and I don’t think they’ll drop them too soon. Giving the match to The Forgotten Sons to make a statement would be ideal but I don’t think that’s going to happen so The New Day retains.

Tom: I need a title change, as I don’t predict one happening unless there is a cash-in. I don’t see the WWE taking the belts off The New Day yet, so I’ll take Big E getting the pin to hold onto the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Magnum: I’m pretty sure that Miz and Morrison were intending on keeping those titles for a long time, but those plans got derailed. I think they could get back on track and once again become the champs tonight. HEY! HEY! HO! HO! Then again…no. 😀 I’ll take The New Day to retain the gold.

Renegade: Tonight, give me The Miz and Johnny Dripp Dripp to win back their WWE Tag Team Championships.

Brother Bull: Since nobody else wants to pull the trigger on the Forgotten Sons, allow me to go ahead and do just that. In an upset, the Forgotten Sons become the new SmackDown WWE Tag Team Champions.

WWE Universal Championship
Braun Strowman (c) vs. Bray Wyatt

Colin: Since Braun is wrestling Bray rather than The Fiend, I would imagine he’s going over…but the program is not over until Strowman comes face-to-face with The Fiend. I’d like Wyatt to regain the title, but not now. Strowman retains.

Tom: This is tough as you have built two monsters and one has to lose. Unless this ends in a DQ or no contest, I see The Fiend getting these hands. Tonight, Braun proves he was the toughest of the Wyatt Family and remains your Universal Champion.

Magnum: I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that if they’re going to run with Braun as champion, they’re going to do it for a while. Maybe not as long as Drew’s reign could be, but this could be a situation where he keeps the title until Roman Reigns comes back. We’ll see. Tonight, he retains.

Renegade: Bray Wyatt will stun the world and become the new Universal Champion for a second time.

Brother Bull: I’m going with the consensus pick – I’ll take Braun Strowman to retain the Universal Championship tonight.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bayley (c) vs. Tamina

Colin: I was never high on Tamina to be completely honest. The money match is Bayley vs Sasha here, hopefully sometime this year, in front of a crowd. Bayley wins.

Tom: As far as I know, Tamina’s mic skills aren’t the best and sadly WWE doesn’t have managers. Bayley will get the hard-fought win over Tamina.

Magnum: Tamina getting a push during the second season of “Dark Side of the Ring.” No coincidence there, nope. Nothing to see here. Anyways, I’ll take Bayley to retain…but don’t be shocked by an upset tonight.

Renegade: Bayley will retain her Women’s Championship.

Brother Bull: Consensus wins again. I can’t see them putting the title on Tamina. Bayley retains the title.

WWE Championship
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Seth Rollins

Colin: The McIntyre train is in full force and yes, Rollins is a great champion, but you think McIntyre will drop the title a month after winning it following a 3-month campaign chasing it? Nope. Drew retains.

Tom: I don’t see any way this match ends besides a Claymore Kick and an 1-2-3. Drew McIntyre will retain the WWE Championship.

Magnum: Drew’s the man. I feel somewhat sympathetic for him, considering that he can’t have a proper run with live crowds and such, but he’s still one of the top wrestlers in the world, and Seth will go to great lengths to put on a fantastic match. This is going to be good. Drew retains.

Renegade: Tonight, Drew will retain his WWE Championship.

Brother Bull: Yeah, I also gotta take Drew tonight. He’s on top of the mountain right now!

MITB Contract Match – Women’s (WORTH 3 POINTS)
Asuka vs. Shayna Baszler vs. Nia Jax vs. Dana Brooke vs. Lacey Evans vs. Carmella

Colin: The fact that Becky Lynch will be confronting the winner on Raw on Monday makes me thing that a Raw woman will be winning this one. The only logical winner here is Shayna Baszler and she should be the one who dethrones The Man eventually, getting that revenge for Rousey. So give me Shayna for the W.

Tom: Assuming Bayley and Becky Lynch are they champions after tonight, we need their next opponent. I want to see more of Shayna and Becky. I can see Baszler being that fun heel teasing a cash-in for a long time. Shayna Baszler is your women’s MITB winner.

Magnum: I gotta be honest…Shayna just seems like too obvious of a pick tonight. If she were to lose, she wouldn’t be losing by pinfall, so it’s not necessarily something that hurts her in the long run. Finally, Shayna’s going to need a long-term dance partner when Becky goes to film that Avengers movie. That opponent? The winner of this match: Asuka. She’s on a roll right now, and it’s time for her to finally become Ms. Money in the Bank.

Renegade: This match is Shayna’s to win. She’s taking it all.

Brother Bull: I’m not sure why everyone’s forgetting about Nia Jax, but I think she’s back tonight. This is her chance. Nia Jax takes the Women’s MITB briefcase.

MITB Contract Match – Men’s (WORTH 3 POINTS!)
Daniel Bryan vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Aleister Black vs. King Corbin vs. Otis vs. AJ Styles

Colin: The addition of AJ Styles certainly elevates this match. I thought this was the weakest MITB ladder match until he replaced Crews, and it’s not a knock on Apollo per se. I would think either AJ or Daniel Bryan would be the perfect options to win this match. But what do I see more – AJ vs Drew or Braun vs Bryan? I think a heel AJ with a sneaky cash in would be more entertaining so AJ wins.

Tom: We currently have two babyface champions. We need a heel, so I am down to King Corbin and AJ Styles. Since they brought him back at the last minute and could provide a good opponent for Drew McIntyre, I see AJ Styles walking out with the MITB briefcase.

Magnum: This is the hardest one to pick tonight. I’m convinced that Vince would troll us by having Otis or Corbin walk out with the briefcase. In the end, I’m torn between Black and Styles…it feels like these guys are on a collision course down the road, so this could be a hell of a first chapter. Give me AJ Styles to fire the first salvo and take the briefcase.

Renegade: Tonight, AJ Styles will climb the ladder and claim the briefcase.

Brother Bull: I’m going with a longshot, a dark horse…a guy that Vince is behind, big time. I’m rolling with Baron Corbin claiming his second MITB briefcase tonight!

That’s going to do it for the Pick’em Crew! Enjoy the show tonight and stay safe!! See you next time for the PPV Pick’em report! @TheMagnumDA signing off.
