Crown Jewel 2024 pick’em report

Hello everybody!! It’s @TheMagnumDA with another installment of the Pick’em report! Tonight, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, WWE presents Crown Jewel 2024. This is shaping up to be the most consequential Crown Jewel yet, as they are debuting the Crown Jewel Championship in a “Bragging Rights” style series of matches between Raw and Smackdown’s World Champions.

On top of that, we’ve got heated grudge matches and multiple titles on the line. Colin and I have gone back and forth with the strap throughout 2024, but it’s time to decide who will walk out with BOTH the WOPC Championship, as well as the WOPC Crown Jewel Championship! Who’s going home with all the gold? Let’s find out right now!!

ON WITH THE PICKS!!

Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Bronson Reed

Magnum: What a great storyline for Bronson Reed – a match like this elevates him to the next level. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take it up to an even higher notch – yes, the Big Bronson Reed push goes to 11, as Spinal Tap would say. Give me Reed in the biggest win of his life. Points – 2

Colin: Bronson Reeds needs to go over here, there’s no other way around it if they plan on extending this feud by another month or so. I have to admit, I’m not a fan of Reed, but when he squashed Rollins on Raw with six tsunamis, I thought it was their best presentation of him as a monster. Reed wins. Points – 6

Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens

Magnum: This entire storyline is building towards Owens vs. Rhodes, likely in a bullrope match. To get there, KO is going to have to hurt RKO in a way that will harken back to Sami Zayn and NXT nearly 10 years ago. Give me Owens to dominate the match and likely injure Orton after it’s all said and done. Points – 6

Colin: With the way Triple H describing Owens last week, it would make sense that a crazed KO wins here. I know Orton is one of the most protected stars on the roster, but Kevin Owens needs a good win, and this would be a very good win. And if he’s going for the title against Cody on SNME, losing here would make no sense. KO wins. Points – 3

WWE United States Championship – Triple Threat Match
LA Knight (c) vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes

Magnum: A triple threat match is always going to mean less confidence points for the pick, especially when the betting odds have been so tight between these three stallions. In the end, this is still LA Knight’s game (YEAH!) so I’ll take Knight to survive and retain, but by the skin of his teeth. Points – 3

Colin: They f’d up that game seven between Andrade and Hayes, didn’t they? It did not surprise me one bit, but it was annoying they went to that predictable route rather than giving us a clear winner. I can’t see LA Knight losing the title here and I feel another match between Hayes and Andrade should get a one-on-one with Knight. So YEAH, LA Knight wins. Points – 5

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Fatal 4 Way
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair (c) vs. Damage CTRL (Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky) vs. Meta-Four (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson) vs. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven

Magnum: Last night’s Fatal 4 Way was an awesome showcase for both Lash Legend and Piper Niven, and kudos to Iyo Sky for picking up one of the biggest victories she’s had since before WrestleMania. Having said that, the champs are just way too dominant. They lost in a fluke at the Clash, and it’s time to right those wrongs tonight. Jade and Bianca retain. Points – 7

Colin: I feel this is a case of getting as much women on the show to tick that box. I mean, kudos to WWE to be able to keep showcasing women at the Saudi shows but this one seemed a bit forced, especially with four teams. Cargill and Belair retain, that’s my pick. Points – 7

Six-Man Tag Team Match
The OG Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and/or Jacob Fatu)

Magnum: Man, that moment between the original Bloodline last night on SmackDown….awesome stuff. THEY THE ONES!! Or…are they? Because they are going up against the well-oiled machine that is the current Bloodline. These guys have been on the road every night, they’ve been on TV every week, and even though they lost the tag titles to the Motor City Machine Guns, they haven’t folded their tent just yet. Expect Solo’s Bloodline to shock the world and pick up the duke here tonight. Points – 4

Colin: I was surprised they’re doing this match to be honest. I kinda expected them to keep them apart until Survivor Series: WarGames, but Saudi money wins anyway. $50 mil, I don’t blame them one bit! Anyway, with this moving to WarGames, I’m expecting Solo’s Bloodline to go over here. Poor Jimmy will probably take the pinfall here. Points – 4

WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Championship
Liv Morgan (Women’s World Champion) vs. Nia Jax (WWE Women’s Champion)

Magnum: As wild as it sounds, this is probably the most challenging pick of the night. It’s hard to see how this will play out, but I am going to run with this theory – whoever loses their title first will likely be the winner of this match. Since I don’t see anyone dethroning Liv in the near future…and because Nia Jax’s days are numbered with Tiffy Time looming near, I am going to say that Nia Jax gets her last big victory as Crown Jewel Champion. Sooner or later, though…her title reign may be coming to an end. Points – 1

Colin: Liv Morgan is on a roll and I’m enjoying her reign as champion. It was good that they didn’t give Rhea the belt back yet. She’ll get it back, don’t get me wrong, but it’s Morgan’s time. Nia, well, I’m just waiting for Tiffany Stratton to cash in on her and win that title. Will it happen here? Unlikely, but I think somehow she’ll end up costing Nia the match. Liv wins. Points – 2

WWE Crown Jewel Championship
Gunther (World Heavyweight Champion) vs. Cody Rhodes (Undisputed WWE Champion)

Magnum: Man, another tough one! At least…on the surface. I think Cody’s got a lot on his mind right now. I don’t know if he’s as prepared as The Ring General for this match. Look at it this way from Kayfabe – Who does Gunther have on the horizon? No one. Does he have to watch his back like Cody? No. Will he have support when he goes out to the ring? Yes, in the form of Kaiser. All of those factors demonstrate one thing…that Cody is a marked man, while Gunther is not. Of course, all of that could change if Goldberg shows up, but as far as I know…he didn’t make the flight to Saudi Arabia. So give me Gunther, in a big way. Points – 5

Colin: This could go either way with interference. Goldberg causes Gunther to lose, or Kevin Owens causes Cody Rhodes to lose. Which way is it going? I have no clue, but if I was the booking man, I’d have Gunther go over because he needs it more than Cody Rhodes. Either way, I think both will be protected in the finish. Give me a Gunther win. Points – 1
