WrestleMania 38 Night Two PPV Pick’em report

Hello everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA here with the WrestleMania 38 PPV Pick’em report for Night Two of this great event. What else can be said about Night One? How can you even TOP Night One?! That was one of the wildest nights in professional wrestling, and regardless of what you thought you knew going into the show, there were still plenty of surprises. Cody killed it, Austin killed it, Becky and Bianca killed it, and hell…even Charlotte and Ronda produced a better match than I could have predicted! Having said that, let’s keep Boogs in our thoughts too – that knee injury did not look pretty.

One thing we’ll want to keep in mind…the New Day vs. Sheamus/Ridge tag team match did not take place last night, as planned…it’s likely that they will have the chance to wrestle tonight. If they do, everyone picked Sheamus and Ridge Holland except for yours truly (I had the New Day). Those picks WILL count towards the overall score, as long as the match takes place sometime this evening.

After Night One, here’s the current Pick’em Crew Standings:
Magnum and Tom: 6 Points
Brother Bull: 5 Points
Colin and Renegade: 4 Points

It’s time to find out who’s walking away from WrestleMania 38 with the WOPC Championship – ON WITH THE PICKS for Night Two!!

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Fatal 4 Way
Queen Zelina and Carmella (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan vs. Natalya and Shayna Baszler

Bonus Question #1: Who scores the winning pinfall?

Heel Turn Tom: I feel like this title has been forgotten and not a priority. This match will probably not get much time for all the competitors in the match so it will feel rushed so people can get their stuff in. Sasha Banks will hit the Banks Statement on Liv for the tap-out win – Sasha and Naomi are the New Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Brother Bull: I’ll take Rhea and Liv to win the titles…for the bonus, I’ll say Rhea with a sexually compromising pin (Editor’s Note: That seems to be a thing, doesn’t it?)

Colin: Sasha Banks is still waiting for her first win at a WrestleMania believe it or not. Six losses. SIX! This is the perfect match to break that losing streak. I’m quite enjoying Sasha and Naomi together and it’s time for Zelina and Carmella to lose. So gimme the Legit Boss and the Glow Queen to win this one. Sasha gets the pinfall.

Renegade: I’m going to take the last-minute team of Natalya and Shayna to win the titles, with Natalya getting the deciding fall.

Magnum: Sasha Banks has burned my ass SO MANY TIMES at Mania. I’m pretty sure I’ve picked her on multiple occasions, and yet here we are…she is 0-6 at this event. This is the perfect opportunity for that streak to end, but mark my words…if she loses here, I’m never picking her again! Sasha and Naomi win the tag titles, with Sasha getting the deciding fall or submission.

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos

Heel Turn Tom: They didn’t do Bobby any favors with a decent title run or feud with Brock, so why should I see WWE doing anything different here? WWE will keep pushing Omos and he will get a win here too.

Brother Bull: Lashley beats the big man, and hopefully quickly.

Colin: Why? This match does nothing good for either of the two. Lashley has been booked strong, and so is Omos. Doing this match after just one show is absolute madness. I understand they want to put both on the show, but there were other ways. In any case, I think Lashley will give Omos his first loss and then goes again for the main title.

Renegade: I’m going to take Bobby Lashley here to win and get back into the title picture.

Magnum: At one point, the Vegas odds were firmly in Omos’ favor. As of this afternoon, however, some money has come in Bobby’s way. If this was the match where they wrote Bobby off because of injury, then I would pick Omos. However, as crazy as it sounds…I think Lashley is back and healthy, and I also think he enters the title picture after a huge victory this evening.

No Holds Barred – Anything Goes
Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn

Heel Turn Tom: Hi, my name is Johnny Knoxville and welcome to a WrestleMania victory!

Brother Bull: I believe Johnny Knoxville sneaks one out at WrestleMania.

Colin: I think we are going to see some wicked shit in this match. Knoxville will probably be on the receiving end of some crazy stunts so he can add them to his resume. What a nut job. Sami can’t lose this one. They will both get some holy shit moments, but it has to end with Sami winning.

Renegade: Yeah, once this became ‘Anything Goes’, that is going to favor Knoxville.

Magnum: I’m sure the entire Jackass Crew is going to get involved, and this is probably going to turn into a stuntfest to see how many bowling balls can Sami take to the groin (spoiler alert: not more than one). Knoxville gets the victory and the crowd pops for the Jackass theme music – bank on it!

Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory

Heel Turn Tom: This is another one where I wonder why you bring in McAfee to have him lose. I have been impressed with his first two matches in NXT, so I hope McAfee and Theory over deliver here too. I see Pat McAfee getting the win at the end of the match.

Brother Bull: Pat McAfee finds a Way 😎, to beat Theory.

Colin: Believe it or not, I am really looking forward to this one. Pat is a tremendous athlete and he showed that to us when he worked NXT against Adam Cole and the WarGames match. And Austin Theory is a great wrestler too so they should click. They love McAfee, and he’s awesome, so I’m picking him for the victory. LET’S GO PAT! (clap clap clap)

Renegade: I’m also going to take Pat McAfee here for the win.

Magnum: You know what? Similar to the New Day match, I’m going against the grain here. I’m going to take Austin Theory, and here’s why: I can’t see Austin Theory’s name value growing for future Mania’s if he loses this one, and I think he will be in many more Mania’s in the future. This isn’t HHH losing to the Ultimate Warrior…this would be Theory losing to a former NFL player and current color commentator. The more likely scenario is that Pat would be willing to make a star out of this kid, so keeping that in mind…I see a fun, possibly wild match where Theory gets the victory.

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship – Triple Threat
RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) (c) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) vs. Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis)

Bonus Question #2: Who scores the winning pinfall?

Heel Turn Tom: I keep changing my mind on this one because of the other titles changes I have and originally, I had Riddle getting the pin. But I am going with some fantasy booking for my pick. There will be something that starts the crack and future split of RK-Bro and Ford will swoop in with a Frog Splash on one of the Alpha Academy for the three-count and Street Profits win.

Brother Bull: Alpha Academy win the belts…and Otis gets the pin. SHOOOOSH!

Colin: This should be another good match if everyone is on the same page. RK-Bro will eventually implode but maybe not tonight. I’m picking them to retain the titles with Randy Orton delivering a gigantic RKO to someone. Out of nowhere, of course.

Renegade: Give me RK-Bro to retain the titles, with Riddle getting the deciding fall.

Magnum: This is another tough decision – a part of me wants the Street Profits to win the titles and turn heel, but I think that is coming down the road. For tonight, I’ll take Rannnnnndy and Riddle, Team RK-Bro, to hold on to the championships, with Randy getting the winning fall.

Edge vs. AJ Styles

Heel Turn Tom: I like where this new heel Edge is going and I want to see this going further. After a great match, I see a Spear and a three-count for an Edge win.

Brother Bull: Edge wins in a possible ‘Match of the Night’ candidate.

Colin: Match of the night? Probably. Match of the two-night show? Possibly. These two can raise the roof and Edge will be out there to prove that he can still hang in with the boys. You can’t get a bad match against AJ Styles. You simply can’t. It’s AJ’s time though and I’m picking him for a phenomenal win.

Renegade: I’m also going to roll with AJ – this could be his biggest WrestleMania win, to date.

Magnum: You know, this entire story has been about Edge. Edge fired the first salvo with the Con-Chair-To, and since that time he’s evolved into this crazy narcissist with a new entrance, a new promo style, and a wicked new theme. This is all new to us, so for him to lose…that’d be a step backwards. Look for Edge to win this match, possibly with some help from the guys who could be part of Edge’s “House of Black” type stable, as rumored.

Winner Takes All – Title Unification Match
Brock Lesnar (WWE Champion) vs. Roman Reigns (WWE Universal Champion) (with Paul Heyman)

Heel Turn Tom: The Bloodline is the best storyline going on right now and I hope we do get a payoff with The Rock involved somehow and maybe even an appearance tonight. I see (with a little help from his family) Roman getting the win and unifying the titles.

Brother Bull: Roman Reigns…ACKNOWLEDGE him!!! He becomes the Unified Champ in the greatest main event ever.

Colin: Oh boy. I’m so undecided on this one. Face Brock has been AMAZING. Why did it take so many years to get this out of him? It is like watching a completely different person. Love it. Reigns is at the top of his game. Nobody better. Nobody. He hasn’t beaten Lesnar at a WrestleMania. Ever. Who walks out with the title? Who needs it more? Very, very, very hard to predict. 50/50 for me, but since you’re holding me at gun point and need to pick a winner, then F it, I’m picking the REIGNING, DEFENDING, UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION…ah shit…well, okay, Roman Reigns wins. Acknowledge him.

Renegade: I can’t go against The Tribal Chief – Roman Reigns walks out of WrestleMania with both championships.

Magnum: This actually seems like the easiest pick of the night. I know a lot of folks are waffling about it, but for me…it’s pretty cut and dry. They want Roman to have this title reign that lasts for years…so to do that, he’s going to have to get through Brock. He’s tried twice before to defeat Brock at WrestleMania, and he has failed at Mania 31 and 34. Similar to Rock with Austin, Roman’s finally going to get Brock on the third try. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Brock and Paul were working together this whole time, and a double-turn happens in the middle of the match? Hey, anything could happen! Either way, Roman wins and becomes WWE Undisputed World and Universal Champion.

That’s going to do it for us – from everyone here at the Wrestling-Online Pick’em Crew, THANK YOU for checking us out. We hope you enjoy Night Two of WrestleMania 38, and we’ll see you next time for the PPV Pick’em report. @TheMagnumDA signing off.
