WrestleMania XL night one pick’em report

Hello everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA here with another edition of the Pick’em Report – this time, Colin and I will be squaring off in a battle for the ages – who will walk out of WrestleMania XL with the WOPC Championship?? Colin has had an incredible run dating all the way back to when he won the title at the end of last year. This is going to be a two-night cumulative score – no bonuses, no BS, just picks! With that, ON WITH THE SHOW!!!

NIGHT ONE

Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso

Magnum: Man, whenever these huge Anniversary shows come up, it seems like there’s always a big time “Brother vs. Brother” match. Owen and Bret at Mania X. The Hardys at Mania XXV. Now we get Jimmy and Jey on the biggest stage of them all. If history has proven anything…it’s that the heel brother has always won this chapter of the feud. That said, I feel like the winds of change are upon us. Give me Jey Uso for the win. YEET!

Colin: Yeet or no yeet? It’s no debate who the most popular Uso is here. This is their first match against each other. If Jey wins, it kinda stops there. If Jimmy wins, then there’s a place for a rematch I think. Jey is definitely more over and the most loved so I’m torn about this. I’m guessing Jimmy wins with the interference of either Solo Sikoa or someone new.

Women’s World Championship
Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch

Magnum: This is one of the reasons I wanted to BE at WrestleMania – to see THIS MATCH. These are two of my all-time favorites from the Women’s Division, and as awesome as Becky has been these last five years…it’s time for a new star to take her place among the immortals. Rhea Ripley dominates and retains her title.

Colin: This will be interesting. Rhea is one of the hottest acts on television right now and she’s been a champion for a full year. Becky is on the up again but her deal expires in two months and she hasn’t signed one yet. I mean I have no doubt she will, but Becky doesn’t need the title. Rhea retains.

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Gunther (c) vs. Sami Zayn

Magnum: Another reason I wanted to BE at WrestleMania – to see this match. I just can’t see this ending badly for Sami Zayn – he’s lost twice in a row going into this match, and it just feels like the weight of the world is on his shoulders. A Gable heel turn would just break my heart – here’s hoping for the first of many miracles this weekend. Sami ends Gunther’s reign of terror at 665 days. Sami wins!!!

Colin: I definitely didn’t think Gunther would be taking on Sami Zayn at WrestleMania. I thought Chad Gable had a better story overall than Zayn but what do I know? I love Sami, but he wouldn’t be my pick to end this historic title run by Gunther so I’m going to go with a Gunther win.

WWE Tag Team Championship – Ladder Match
The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Damian Priest) (c) vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) vs. New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate)

Magnum: So I’ve caught up on the rules of this match…it sounds like we’re going to get two winners before it’s all said and done. We’re in Philly, right? This match has no rules, right? What’s stopping someone from going to the EXTREME and winning the titles? Give me an ECW original to stun the world and win the Smackdown Tag Team Championships – THE DUDLEY BOYS! As for the Raw Tag Titles? Please make this the night for Miz and R-Truth – their first championship win at a Mania!!

Colin: I guess time to split the tag team titles again and hopefully debut a new design cause those things are ugly AF. I’m hoping that DIY win the Raw Tag Team titles and A-Town Down Under picks up the Smackdown Tag Team titles.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match
Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi vs. Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane)

Magnum: This is such an easy formula – save Jade for that hot tag, and let her steamroll everyone down. I’ve gotta take Bianca, Jade, and Naomi for the win.

Colin: Well, if there’s any match I have zero doubt on the result it’s this one right here. This will be a showcase for Jade Cargill and they’re protecting her by hiding her limitations in a multi-woman tag match. Smart. She’ll get there, she’s a Superstar and looks like one. But yeah, Bianca, Jade, and Naomi for the win.

Tag Team Grudge Match
Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio and Andrade) vs. Santos Escobar and “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio

Magnum: Father vs. Son, two years in a row! I have to believe that this is a way for Legado to build on their legacy, and it’s also a way for Dom to avenge last year’s humiliating loss. Give me Legado and Dom to win, but more importantly…give me Elektra Lopez! Meow!

Colin: This was probably thrown in at the last minute and I hate that Dom is once again locked in a feud with his dad. Seen it last year, time for something else. He’ll get his revenge this time, maybe with the help of someone who turns, like Carlito maybe? Dom and Santos win.

Tag Team Main Event
The Bloodline (The Rock and Roman Reigns) vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins

Magnum: The one the WORLD will be watching. I have thoroughly enjoyed the build-up for this match, regardless of their critics and detractors. This is going to be chaos, it’s going to be fun, and for the first time ever…we’re going to have a cliffhanger WrestleMania ending. The Bloodline will win this match, and for Cody Rhodes…there will be no way out on Night Two. Right?

Colin: This should be really good. It’s going to be bonkers I tell you that. The only thing that makes sense is that if Bloodline wins this one and tomorrow it’s Bloodline Rules. The big question is who takes the pinfall. Cody or Seth? I’m thinking Cody will eat the pin here from The Rock. But anyway, Bloodline wins.
