King and Queen of the Ring 2024 Pick’em report

Hello everybody! @TheMagnumDA here with this month’s Pick’em report. Tonight, WWE is in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to declare a new King and Queen of The Ring. Colin’s been on the run of a lifetime, including a title defense last month that was won in less than 30 minutes! Just when you think the challenger is down…I am back for one last claim to the throne.

The WOPC Championship is on the line! ON WITH THE PICKS!

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship (Kickoff Match)
Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill (c) vs. Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell

Magnum: This is a good way for Belair and Jade to get their heat back after losing to Nia Jax by questionable circumstances in the Queen of the Ring tournament. It’s wild to think that Candice and Indi are getting their second title match in a span of three months, but here we are. Indi seems to be embracing the heel turn, which strikes me as odd because she and Candice seemed to be on the outs, at one point, If DIY turn as well, could we see The Way return? Time will tell. For tonight? Give me Belair and Cargill to retain.

Colin: Interesting how they put Bianca and Jade in the tournament and now they end up on the preview show. I was surprised Bianca lost clean to Nia Jax to be honest, did not expect that for sure, but if there’s a match where I could put my life savings on the line, it would be this one. Bianca and Jade win and not even entertaining other ideas.

Queen of the Ring Final
Lyra Valkyria vs. Nia Jax

Magnum: If Lyra were to win, she’d likely face Becky Lynch at Summerslam. Those two tore it up last summer on NXT. Having said that, all signs seem to point to Nia Jax getting this victory. Bayley is already gearing up for a title match against Piper Niven – look for her to continue to face opponents bigger and stronger than her as we get to Summerslam. I want Lyra to win, but I’m certain this belongs to Jax.

Colin: Surprising final, although with Valkyria, you would have expected a heel opponent. Jax gets a lot of flack but I think she has been booked perfectly in this second stint. Lyra’s time will come, but this is Jax’s time. Queen Nia sounds really cool too.

King of the Ring Final
Gunther vs. Randy Orton

Magnum: I talked to Brother Bull the other day, and he was convinced that Orton is taking the crown tonight. It makes sense to me, plus Orton vs. Rhodes is a built-in ready-made feud. As I started to think about it, though…Orton is still deeply entrenched in a feud with The Bloodline. In the house show circuit, it only makes sense to keep Cody and Randy aligned…at least, for now. Gunther lost that IC title for a reason – to move on to bigger and better things. The crown is his – all hail King Gunther!!

Colin: An Orton vs Rhodes SummerSlam match would cook but there’s only one problem for me: both are big time babyfaces. That’s why I am picking Gunther and following his run as an Intercontinental champion, going for the World Heavyweight title would be the next step.

Intercontinental Championship – Triple Threat
Sami Zayn (c) vs. Chad Gable vs. Bronson Reed

Magnum: I’ve been loving this Gable heel turn. I also like the dynamic created here – Alpha Academy could have said, “Screw this guy”, but they’re sticking around and taking the abuse. That’s going to lead to one hell of a face turn for Otis, Maxine, and Tozawa. Eventually, Gable is going to have to win some gold to justify his teachings and preachings. I think it’ll be soon, but not tonight. Sami retains.

Colin: I don’t see Sami dropping the title until maybe SummerSlam. Not a big fan of Reed myself, I can’t see what other people see in him, but that’s just me. Gable, on the other hand, is great as a heel and would make a great champion while being a total dick to the rest of his team. But for now, I’m picking Zayn.

WWE Women’s World Championship
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Liv Morgan

Magnum: Without question, the most challenging pick of the night…and the one that will likely decide this pick’em. I asked myself what would have happened if this was Rhea against Liv, and I thought it’d be the first chapter of their feud…so Rhea would retain. I do think Liv will eventually become champion, but she’s going to need a little help to do it. Maybe Dominik Mysterio is available? As for tonight, though…I see The Man holding on to the strap. Becky Lynch retains.

Colin: Hm, this one is a toss up. Not sure if Becky Lynch signed a new deal yet and I don’t believe she was ever in the plans to run with this title if it wasn’t for Ripley’s injury. Becky doesn’t need the title for sure and a Liv vs Rhea feud would make more sense now. I think we’re going to see a new champion in Liv Morgan.

Undisputed WWE Championship
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Logan Paul

Magnum: I think we’re going to see a memorable and crazy brawl. Logan Paul is building this match as a “clean” match, free of the brass knuckles. I am quite sure the social media star has a few of those sitting around. I’m also sure that his entourage will likely make an appearance. On top of all that, I feel like the Prime Hydration Station will be used as a prop, and there will also be an incredible highspot. All the bells and whistles will be used here, but look for Cody to retain in a wild one.

Colin: I’m expecting this to be the match of the night. Can’t believe I’m saying that with Logan Paul in it. But he’s that good. Remember his match in Saudi against Roman? The dude definitely stepped up. But yeah, can’t see any different outcome than Cody winning this one.

Alright folks, that’s going to do it for the KOTR/QOTR Pick’em report! Colin and I will be back next month with the CLASH AT THE CASTLE!! See you then! @TheMagnumDA signing off.
