WWE Summer Slam 2022 PPV Pick’em report

Hey everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA here with another installment of the PPV Pick’em report. This time, we’re going to share our picks for the biggest party of the Summer, WWE Summer Slam! We are aware of the potential for Seth Rollins to still participate at this show (in lieu of his cancelled match against Riddle), but we won’t be able to make our picks for that match before bell-time.

Tonight, Colin will defend his WOPC Championship against yours truly in a one-on-one struggle for Championship supremacy! Who will be the Champ at the end of the night? Let’s find out.

ON WITH THE PICKS!!

The Mysterios vs. The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Damian Priest w/Rhea Ripley)

Magnum: Something is going to lead Edge to come out here and exact vengeance on his former faction mates. I don’t see Rey and Dom coming out of this with the win – the numbers game is just too much. Judgment Day wins, and Edge returns to save the day.

Colin: I think The Mysterios are due for a win, they’ve been getting beat a bit too much now. But I do like The Judgment Day faction and hated when they turned on Edge because I tho\ght they had something very good going on. But anyway, with Mysterio’s 20th anniversary and all that, I’m predicting Rey and Dom get the win here.

WWE United States Championship
Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Theory

Magnum: If this opens the show, look for Theory’s odds of cashing in to skyrocket. I’m not exactly sure where Lashley is going to fit in the greater scheme of things moving forward, but I don’t see him taking a step backwards tonight. Lashley retains.

Colin: I can’t see Theory winning this one while still holding the briefcase. Too early to pull the trigger on a switch considering Lashley won it earlier this month, so Lashley wins. I think Theory will be busy though tonight…

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship – Jeff Jarrett as Special Guest Referee
The Usos (Jey and Jimmy Uso) (c) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford)

Magnum: The Usos are only a few months away from the New Day’s record…it’d be a shame for them to come up short in their bid for history. Having said that, I think there are some big plans down the road for Montez Ford, so this is the time for the Profits to finally have that nice, long run as champions before they go their separate ways. Tonight, the Street Profits are The Ones who get the dub.

Colin: Will The Street Profits finally do it? I think so, I think tonight is the night to crown new tag team champions. These four men had a spectacular match at MITB and had everyone on the edge of their seats. Hopefully we’ll get a repeat. The Street Profits win #AndNew.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Liv Morgan (c) vs. Ronda Rousey

Magnum: This is one of those matches where I want to believe that Rousey wins, but Morgan retains the title. However, it just doesn’t make sense to me why they’d rush right to the part where people start to doubt Liv’s title reign. She needs something to give her some credibility. A win tonight would definitely be a step in that direction. I’ll take Liv to somehow pull off the miracle.

Colin: Ronda doesn’t seem like she wants to be a champion and fans love Liv so far so doing a title change here would be a very dumb idea. Morgan needs a decisive victory after winning the title the heel way. Morgan wins and retains.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Bianca Belair (c) vs. Becky Lynch

Magnum: This match needs to deliver as the Workhorse match, with Rollins and Riddle off the card. These two (along with Rhodes vs. Rollins) absolutely stole the show at Wrestlemania. Here’s hoping they can do it again! I’ll go ahead and take Belair to retain. I think she’s moving on to Rhea after this.

Colin: This could be one of the matches of the night. Both have good chemistry and both are great wrestlers. Lynch is amazing as a heel but it would suck if she wins it again a year exactly after she beat Bianca in 26 seconds. I am predicting a Belair win.

Logan Paul vs. The Miz

Magnum: Holy crap, Logan Paul is a heel magnet. I don’t care if he goes out there and wins everyone over tonight, this guy needs to turn heel ASAP – as a bad guy, he could make serious money for WWE down the road. Is he willing to put up with the grind of being a WWE Superstar? Time will tell. I think he’ll get a huge win tonight against The Miz, though. Gimme Paul to win in a better-than-expected match.

Colin: Will Logan Paul get booed or cheered? I think he’ll get booed but might win the crowd if he’s great in the ring. He showed us what he can do at WrestleMania and to be honest, he surprised the hell out of me. This will be Logan’s payback. Paul wins.

Pat McAfee vs. Happy Corbin

Magnum: Corbin putting up McAfee’s mugshot last night was pretty brutal. That said, I don’t see any other alternative than for Pat to finally get his revenge on The Happy One. McAfee wins.

Colin: Really looking forward to this match actually. Excellent build up and McAfee is over like rover. He’ll get the crowd fired up and we’ll all be there to eat it up. McAfee wins.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship – Last Man Standing
Roman Reigns (c) (with Paul Heyman) vs. Brock Lesnar

Magnum: Could you imagine if Theory inserts himself into this match while both men are knocked out in the ring? What would have been a Draw…would end with Theory’s hand raised in victory! At least, I think that’s how a Triple Threat Last Man Standing match would go…right? Right? Hmm. Well, since he’s not in the match, and we have only two choices to pick from, I’ll take Roman Reigns to continue his path towards 700 Days as Champion.

Colin: So if Theory cashes in while the match is ongoing, how do the rules change? Does he have to pin someone to win? I can’t see this one being just a last man standing match. Some crazy shit will happen, for sure. If Theory gets involved and somehow it turns into a pinfall match, I think Reigns pins him and ends the match. It’s the only way I can see Lesnar losing – again – to Reigns. I don’t see any scenario with Brock walking out with the title(s) and with Vince out, I doubt we’ll see much of him anymore. Either way, Reigns wins.

There you have it fans! A pretty consistent set of picks, but that early tag match will be all the difference between Colin keeping the strap, and me taking it from him. Hope you all enjoy the show, and we will see you next time for the PPV Pick’em report! @TheMagnumDA signing off.
