SummerSlam 2024 pick’em report

Hello everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA with another edition of the Pick’em report. Tonight, it’s the biggest party of the Summer for WWE! It’s SummerSlam, live from Cleveland Browns Stadium!! Tonight, Colin and I are going to tango for the WOPC Championship that I won back in July. Who will walk out of SummerSlam with the gold? Let’s find out right now.

ON WITH THE PICKS!!

WWE United States Championship
Logan Paul (c) vs. LA Knight

Magnum: I heard that Logan got in some pretty hot water with WWE PR recently for his comments on the Olympics, specifically Women’s Boxing…not the best timing, considering that SummerSlam is in his hometown. LA Knight absolutely needs this win – there’s no turning back for him if he loses this match. Give me LA Knight, and make it quick too. Paul is extremely talented, but he’s a big mouth and a toxic fool. LA Knight will be your new United States Champion.

Colin: Logan Paul is great and all that but he’s taken the title and made it irrelevant with no defenses. So screw him. I hope LA Knight wins this one. Paul doesn’t need the title, I mean, his freakin Prime logo is already on the mat, so he’s already a winner. Take that title away from him and bring it back on TV! LA KNIGHT WINS YEAH!

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker

Magnum: Sami’s had a fantastic run as IC Champ – I was so stoked to see him defeat Gunther live at WrestleMania. That said, this is Bron’s time. It was his time last month…but I understand why they dragged it out another month. It’s time for Sami to move on, and it’s time for Bron to shine. Give me Bron Breakker in a squash to win the Intercontinenal Championship.

Colin: It’s Bron Breakker’s time. Simple as that. Bron losing twice in a row to Sami would kill his momentum. Sami’s great and all that, but I think it’s time to switch things up and let Breakker run with this for a while. New champ!

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre
Seth Rollins as Special Guest Referee

Magnum: I talked about it with my crew during the @TNTHOF ceremonies last month – this has SummerSlam 1997 written all over it. The question, though…is who will Rollins retaliate against? Will it be an errant chairshot to Punk? Or will Seth cost Drew the match? My money’s on Drew antagonizing Seth to the point where he intends to retaliate on Drew, but clobbers Punk instead. There’s money in a Seth/Punk blood feud, and that’s where they were already headed with Mania XL. I’ll take Drew to win.

Colin: I’m also getting vibes of Shawn Michaels as the referee for Bret Hart vs The Undertaker here from SummerSlam 1997 for this one. Drew McIntyre has to win and Seth Rollins will, willingly or unwillingly, help him do it. I think it’s the only logical way to do this and keep Punk strong in the process.

WWE Women’s Championship
Bayley (c) vs. Nia Jax

Magnum: This is one of the more challenging picks of the night. You’d think that, similar to Gunther, Nia Jax would be on a trajectory to win the WWE Championship at this show. I just don’t feel like both the Queen and King of the Ring are going to win tonight…so which one will? I guess you’ll have to read on to find out my thoughts on the World Title match…because I’m going with Nia Jax to win the title.

Colin: Bayley didn’t have the best run with the title since winning it at WrestleMania. I feel it’s like an afterthought. I still think she’s the best one to carry it for the time being. And she needs a good win, and that will come against Nia Jax. Bayley retains.

Bonus Question #1: Yes or No – Will there be a MITB cash-in take place during Bayley vs. Nia Jax (either during or after)?

Magnum: No

Colin: No

Women’s World Championship
Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley

Magnum: Here we go. Just when we thought everything with Dom and Rhea is fine…we’re going to find out a whole lot more to the story. This is where the cracks in the Judgment Day start to form. I am taking Liv to retain, and Dom to leave with her. Poor Rhea.

Colin: I’m looking forward the most to this one. This program has really exceled, and I love what they’re doing every week. I have a feeling that Dom Dom will turn on Mami here, it’s the only way forward in this angle I think. Yeah, Ripley is great as champion, but Liv has turned this up a notch or two and I don’t want her to lose it for now. Great feud for a Hell In A Cell at Bad Blood I think. Liv Morgan retains.

Bonus Question #2: Will Dom leave with Liv or Rhea after the end of the match?

Magnum: Liv Morgan

Colin: Liv Morgan

World Heavyweight Championship
Damian Priest (c) vs. Gunther

Magnum: Man, this is being billed as THE Main Event. So why do we have it placed in the middle of the card? Because it’s our Pick’em report, and we can do whatever we want. :oP I’m just playing. As for tonight, everything points to Gunther being crowned champion. Which is why I’m going to take a chance on Damian Priest retaining. He needs a huge bounce back after Money in the Bank, and a signature win at SummerSlam solidifies him as a Main Event player.

Colin: If they are pulling a title switch, would they do it here or at Bash in Berlin? Priest looks like he’s turning face and Gunther is a great heel. I’m really undecided on this one. Not sure which way it will go. I’m going to guess Gunther wins.

Undisputed WWE Championship
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa

Magnum: I think Cody gets destroyed here, but he’s going to retain. The bigger question is whether or not we see Roman Reigns make the save. I am inclined to think that he will. Solo will beat Cody from pillar to post, but Cody will make the miraculous comeback and keep the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Colin: I can’t see Solo Sikoa as WWE champion under any scenario and there’s no way Cody is going to drop the title five months after he chased it for two long years. Cody Rhodes will defeat Solo Sikoa, but what’s interesting is what happens after that!!

Bonus Question #3: Yes or No – Will Roman Reigns return before the end of the show?

Magnum: Yes

Colin: Yes

Bonus Question #4: Over or Under on Title Changes – 4.5

Magnum: Under

Colin: Under
