Former TNA commentator Don West passed away at age 59 after a battle with cancer. The announcement was made by his long-time friend and former colleague Mike Tenay.
“Just heard from wife Terri that our brother will be spending New Years in heaven,” Tenay wrote. “Terri said D-Dub finally had to tap out from his match with lymphoma. We bonded as soon as we met, both as broadcast partners and friends. Years of great moments both on and off camera.”
West has been battling brain lymphoma since June 2021 and although he initially went into remission, the good news only lasted a few months as his cancer returned in December.
West spent 10 years doing commentary for TNA Wrestling between 2002 and 2012 and was recently working for a radio station in Washington state.
His former employer, Impact Wrestling, issued a statement following the news of his passing.
“IMPACT Wrestling is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Don West, one of the defining voices of our 20 year history. Don’s enthusiasm and passion elevated every second he called and uplifted the spirits of everybody he crossed paths with. He will be dearly missed,” the statement read.
