Gail Kim relinquishes Knockouts title, retires as champion

Gail Kim relinquished the Impact Knockouts title on this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling and announced her retirement, joining Trish Stratus as the only women who retired as a champion.

The Impact Hall of Famer thanked Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Awesome Kong, and Taryn Terrell while in the ring and said she’s in a good place with her decision and now looks forward to see the Knockouts division at Impact continue to grow.

Kim won her 7th and last Knockouts title at Bound For Glory, defeating Sienna and Allie in a three-way match. In July of this year, Kim announced that 2017 would be her final year as a professional wrestler so her retirement was not a surprise.

Impact then announced a tournament that will start on November 30 to determine the new Knockouts champion.

You can see Kim’s in-ring interview below.
