Global Force Wrestling strips Alberto El Patron off the GFW title

Global Force Wrestling has stripped off the GFW title from Alberto El Patron and despite being cleared from Orlando police of any wrongdoing in the airport incident with Paige, the company has not removed him from the indefinite suspension.

“GFW has concluded its internal consideration of the events surrounding the suspension of Alberto El Patron. While it is apparent that initial reports unfairly characterized El Patron’s involvement in the incident in the Orlando airport, we are nonetheless disappointed with the manner in which he dealt with this situation, we expect more decorum from all on the GFW roster, especially the World Champion,” a statement from GFW read. “We have communicated with El Patron our decision to strip him of his championship title. No decision has been taken as to the date on which he will be reinstated to the roster, the conditions of which are a private matter between the company and El Patron.”

GFW has tapings for Impact this week starting on Thursday with a live-to-tape episode of its flagship show. The statement did not elaborate on what will happen with the title and how they will move forward.

El Patron unified the GFW and TNA titles at Slammiversary XV when he beat Lashley in the main event. The former WWE champion was brought in to kickstart the Anthem-era of Impact and was positioned as one of the top guys in the company ever since.
