Impact Wrestling is switching back to a traditional four-sided ring with tonight’s television tapings.
The company has flip flopped between four and six-sided rings since its inception in 2002. When the promotion started, they used the traditional ring until 2004. That year, when Impact made its debut, it switched to a six-sided ring until 2010 when Hogan and Bischoff came in. After four years of using a traditional four-sided ring again, the six sides came back in 2014, lasting until tonight.
The ring set-up was photographed by Pro Wrestling NOAH star Taiji Ishimori who is in Orlando for the tapings. Perhaps the biggest thing from the photo is the big Twitch logo on the ring skirt. Twitch is a live streaming video platform owned by Amazon. Impact and Twitch have no commercial relationship so it will be interesting to see what will come out of it after tonight.
