TNA Impact announcer Josh Mathews took a nasty shot at WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross on Twitter yesterday, a remark which he eventually apologized for, sort of.
“Why anyone would say @ufc ‘won’ the night over @nfl is beyond me. Please, stop. It’s not a fair fight. If you are over 60, just go away,” Mathews wrote, referring a comment by Jim Ross on Twitter where he said that UFC won the night battling the NFL playoffs on Sunday.
Ross, most likely all surprised, called the jab “stiff” and said he didn’t expect that from Mathews.
“It was stiff, I get that. Sometimes you gotta call it like you see it,” Mathews replied.
After getting a ton of negative feedback from his Twitter followers for his remark, Mathews apologized. Sort of.
“Look, the tweet was outta character & disrespectful to @JRsBBQ & I’m sorry. I’ll continue to speak my mind, but in a respectful/proper way,” Mathews said.
