A phenomenal year as WWE champion for AJ Styles

It’s been a phenomenal year for AJ Styles as yesterday he celebrated 365 days as WWE champion.

Styles won the title on November 7, 2017 during an episode of Smackdown Live from Manchester, England, beating Jinder Mahal in a match with a surprise ending. The WWE title had never changed hands outside North America and such title changes are few and far in between on free television.

AJ has now passed Hulk Hogan’s second run with the title in the chart as longest-reigning champion and will pass Randy Savage next week who stands at 371 days. His next target will be John Cena who’s on the chart with 380 days and then the famous CM Punk reign with 434 days. Styles sits in 10th place of longest-reigning WWE champions of all time.

Styles has successfully defended the WWE title against the likes of Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and many others this year.
