A WWE brand-to-brand rule explained

Smackdown commentator Michael Cole had some insight into the rules – that undoubtedly will be broken along the way – of the newest version of the “wildcard rule” where Superstars from Raw and Smackdown can appear on different brands.

While doing commentary on Smackdown, Cole said that each individual Superstar who appears on the opposing brand will only have four chances to leave his mark during the year, meaning that we’re supposed to see only a maximum of four appearances from one particular person temporarily jumping ship.

Rumors are that the new rule came in effect after both FOX and USA Network agreed over the concept to transfer some star power during this difficult period. WWE is currently missing several stars from its shows, some of whom because they agreed to take WWE’s offer not to work during the pandemic.
