AJ Styles gets all-clear to compete, to open Smackdown with WWE title match

WWE has just announced that AJ Styles has been cleared to compete…tonight and will grant James Ellsworth his WWE title match that he won when he defeated Styles in a ladder match to get a Smackdown contract.

Styles has been out of action since the TLC pay-per-view earlier this month following a leg injury. He was taken off all non-televised events to heal up. Styles was not originally part of tonight’s broadcast but now he will not only wrestle, but also kick off the show with the title match.

“Let’s get this over with for once and for all and let Ellsworth go back to where he belongs…FAR AWAY from the @WWE Championship,” Styles tweeted.
