Alberto Del Rio forbidden from dropping AAA title

Fredo Esparza of LuchaWorld.com reported on his Twitter that Alberto Del Rio, the current AAA Mega Champion, will not be wrestling for AAA anymore and will be stripped off his title as the promotion is looking to “move forward.”

The statement came from Dorian Roldan, the Executive Vice President of Business Development for Lucha Libra AAA. Roldan said that they hoped to get two more dates out of Del Rio and Del Rio tried to drop the AAA title but he was forbidden by WWE due to his new deal.

The new AAA Mega Champion will be crowned after a tournament during AAA’s Guerra de Titanes show, the last big show for AAA of the year. Roldan also wished Del Rio well and was understanding of the good deal he got with WWE.
