An emotional send off to Daniel Bryan on Raw

Holding back tears, former WWE World Heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan stood in the middle of the ring with his eyes closed as thousands of fans chanted “Yes! Yes!” and “Daniel Bryan,” giving the Internet Wrestling Community’s favorite son a standing ovation for his farewell.

It’s a love story that started back in the first season of NXT, a former ROH and indy star by the name of Bryan Danielson was renamed to Daniel Bryan and apart from a few months out after he was fired, Bryan’s WWE story could easily fit a Disney movie. The small, often-told-no Superstar went from being mentored by The Miz to being one of the most popular WWE Superstars in the history of the business. His journey to the main event at WrestleMania XXX was unprecedented and will probably never be duplicated.

Citing new brain test results which were not encouraging, Bryan has decided to hang up his boots once and for all after it was clear that WWE’s medical team, headed up by Dr. Joseph Maroon, would not clear him for the foreseeable future. Bryan was already cleared by the Arizona Cardinals doctor and a doctor at UCLA however he underwent further tests in New York prior to the Royal Rumble and the results did not paint a pretty picture. His several concussions took a toll on his brain and with a wife and plans for a baby, the most logical thing to do was to retire from in-ring competition.

Daniel Bryan was given the perfect send off last night on Raw, anchoring the final segment of the show. WWE Superstars, Divas, referees, and other officials came out to the top of the entrance ramp and showed their respect for the former champion ending a very emotional, tears-filled segment that everyone was hoping they would not see for years to come.
