Asuka becomes 8th longest reigning champion

NXT Women’s champion Asuka surpassed The New Day’s title reign this weekend is now at 485 days straight as a champion, becoming the 8th longest champion in WWE history.

Asuka won the NXT title at NXT Takeover: Dallas during the WrestleMania 32 weekend, defeating Bayley. Since that day, no one has managed to defeat the Empress of Tomorrow and Asuka remains undefeated in her NXT career.

She is 17 days away from becoming the 7th longest champion, a spot currently held by Rockin’ Robin who was the WWF Women’s champion for 502 days before the belt was deactivated. There’s a long way to go to claim the sixth place, which is held by Pedro Morales and his WWWF title reign for 1,027 days.

Asuka will be defending the NXT Women’s title against Ember Moon on August 19 at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III.
