Asuka vacates NXT Women’s title

It’s a title reign record that it will take years before someone breaks it, but last night at the NXT television tapings, Asuka vacated the NXT Women’s title and will be moving to the main roster soon.

The Empress of Tomorrow surrendered the title to NXT General Manager William Regal during the last segment of the tapings. According to WWE.COM, her reign will officially end on the date that her historic announcement airs in about a month.

Regal said that he is “negotiating” with the Raw and Smackdown General Managers to see where Asuka will eventually land.

Asuka is currently sidelined with a broken right collarbone and will be out of action for up to two months. After the announcement was done, Triple H presented her with a bouquet of flowers in the ring as fans chanted “Thank you Asuka.” The rest of the NXT locker room emptied to join in on the celebration from the top of the ramp.

She won the title at NXT Takeover: Dallas on April 1, 2016 and has been champion ever since. She is also undefeated in NXT.
