Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that there are talks to hold SummerSlam in Atlantic City, New Jersey in a few weeks time instead of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, WWE has taped all their shows against the same backdrop and in the same location at the Performance Center, including WrestleMania.
SummerSlam is a bit less than three weeks away and the company did not announce a location when they pulled the SummerSlam weekend from Boston, saying that a location would be forthcoming.
McMahon always targeted SummerSlam to have some fans for the show although with the pandemic still largely among us, it remains to be seen if such thing happens. The state of New Jersey has a limit of 500 people for an outdoor event. An indoor event would seem unlikely with fans as yesterday, Governor Phil Murphy announced the decrease of indoor gathering capacity limit to 25 persons.
New Jersey has 182,614 confirmed coronavirus cases and 13,971 deaths. Atlantic County, where Atlantic City is located, has 3,408 positive cases and 237 confirmed deaths.
