Austin Aries suffers nasty eye injury at NXT live event in Fresno

Austin Aries suffered one hell of a nasty eye injury at last night’s NXT live event in Fresno, California.

Aries was on the receiving end of a kick to the face from NXT champion Shinsuke Nakamura and immediately went down on the ground holding his face. After Nakamura delivered a back suplex, the referee went to check on a motionless Aries and then stopped Nakamura from hitting his Kinshasa finisher, put up the X hand sign and stopped the match.

The former TNA champion posted a photo on his Twitter showing his gruesome injury, his left eye swollen, purple, and completely shut with a cut beneath it. “A smile and a wink for y’all,” he wrote.

You can see a video of the injury and the photo Aries posted below.
