Balor or Cole – who will walk out with the NXT title tomorrow?

Another unopposed week, another championship match, and hopefully this time, the NXT title will be decided once and for all after WWE failed to deliver a winner last week.

The two longest-reigning NXT champions will be facing each other tonight on NXT on USA Network but who is the favorite to walk out of Full Sail University with the gold? You can check out bet365 Bonuskoodi if you are in the EU for betting offers.

Just like last week Finn Balor was the favorite to win the 60-minute, fatal four-way iron man match, he remains the favorite to win the title tomorrow night with odds of 1/8. Adam Cole has 4/1 odds so far, making him the underdog for the night.

Last week, Balor had odds of 3/5 to finish the match as the champion while Tommaso Ciampa was 43/20, Johnny Gargano was 5/1 and Adam Cole was 6/1. The match ended with Balor and Cole having two pinfalls while Gargano and Ciampa each had one. Rather than going into sudden death ala WrestleMania 12, NXT General Manager William Regal announced that both Balor and Cole would go against each other tomorrow to finally crown the new champion.

The NXT championship was vacated on the NXT show following Takeover: XXX. The champ at the time, Karrion Kross, had to surrender the title because of a shoulder injury he suffered during the title match against Keith Lee. Kross soldiered on during the match and despite separating his shoulder, he was still able to finish the match and perform some wicked power moves on Lee along the way.

Balor held the NXT title last in April 2016 after 292 days carrying it. He won it from Kevin Owens at The Beast in the East in Tokyo, Japan on July 4, 2015 and then lost it to Samoa Joe on April 21, 2016 at an NXT live event in Lowell, Massachusetts. Up until that point, Balor was the longest-reigning NXT champion, beating Adrian Neville’s 287-day record.

Balor successfully defended his title three times, beating Kevin Owens in a ladder match at Takeover: Brooklyn, defeated Samoa Joe at Takeover: London, and defeated Samoa Joe again at Takeover: Dallas before losing it to Joe.

Cole won the title on June 1, 2019 at Takeover: XXV in Bridgeport, Connecticut after he beat Johnny Gargano. He held on the title for 403 days, losing it to Keith Lee on night two of The Great American Bash on July 1, 2020. Cole is the longest-reigning NXT champion so far.

The leader of The Undisputed Era had a tougher time defending the title and had to go through Akira Tozawa at EVOLVE 131, Gargano at Takeover: Toronto II, Jordan Myles on NXT, Matt Riddle on NXT, Daniel Bryan on Smackdown, Seth Rollins on Raw, Pete Dunn at the Survivor Series, Finn Balor on NXT, Tommaso Ciampa at Takeover: Portland, Velveteen Dream on NXT, and Velveteen Dream again at Takeover: In Your House.
