Just two days before headlining WrestleMania, Becky Lynch sat down with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani for a 30-minute chat in New York to discuss a variety of subjects.
Helwani, who apart from being one of the leading MMA journalists is also a huge wrestling fan, had Lynch on his MMA show a few months ago via telephone but this was the first time that the two met. Her interview with Helwani that time also made it on the WWE Chronicle episode on the WWE Network.
In this wide-ranging interview, Becky talks about the build-up to WrestleMania, finding out she will be in the main event, growing up as a fan, entering the world of professional wrestling, Dusty Rhodes, leaving wrestling and finding alternate jobs, the injury before Survivor Series, Ronda Rousey, and much more.
Becky reveals that she “shed a few tears” when Vince McMahon called her personally to tell her she’ll be main eventing WrestleMania while she was in the midst of a seven-hour drive from Buffalo to Boston.
She also gave her honest opinion about when Ronda Rousey did her vlog and said that wrestling is fake and none of them could touch her anyway. “You wouldn’t hear a champion speak about that. I think it’s completely disrespectful. I think it’s completely stupid,” she said. She also thinks that Rousey hasn’t earned anything in wrestling and came down hard on her for the things she said. “I’m excited to chase her out. We know what happens when Ronda Rousey loses. She can’t hack it!”
