Both WWE and Universal titles on the line at WrestleMania 38

The champion vs champion match at WrestleMania 38 between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will also be title for title, meaning that whoever wins the match will be carrying both the WWE and Universal titles.

This was confirmed by WWE.COM yesterday in an update to the preview entry of their WrestleMania match. Originally, it was only Roman Reigns’ Universal title on the line but now Lesnar will also put up his WWE title up for grabs.

There’s no mention of titles unification so at least for the moment it does not look like they’re getting rid of a title, and if that happens, you can bet that the WWE title, with its illustrious lineage, would be the one staying put.

Lesnar winning the WWE title now leaves the Raw brand without a main champion as both Brock and Roman are part of the Smackdown roster. Having one title match also opens up the opportunity for one of the women’s title matches to headline night one of WrestleMania.

The most likely match to be closing night one is Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey for the Smackdown women’s title and if that happens it means that two Smackdown matches would be headlining the two-night WrestleMania.

All four women involved in the two title matches have headlined WrestleMania before, with Rousey, Lynch, and Flair headlining WrestleMania 35 and Belair main eventing WrestleMania 37 with Sasha Banks.
