UFC President Dana White announced yesterday that Brock Lesnar will now be the main event of UFC 200 after Jon Jones was flagged for a potential anti-doping violation stemming from a June 16 test by USADA.
White called a quick press conference at MGM Grand to announce the news, which he called “super, super disappointing.” Daniel Cormier, who was going to fight Jon Jones, is now without a fight and highly unlikely someone will step in just 48 hours before showtime.
Jones’ mistake spells good news for Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt who are expected to headline one of the – if not the – biggest and highest grossing pay-per-view in UFC history. This will also mark the first time that a fighter not under a UFC deal will headline a pay-per-view.
Lesnar vs. Hunt will remain as a three-round bout, White said.
