Brock Lesnar still under WWE contract, given one-time permission for UFC fight

In a short statement issued on WWE.COM, WWE has confirmed that Lesnar is fighting at UFC 200 with their complete blessing, giving him a one-time opportunity to be part of the biggest UFC pay-per-view of all time.

“Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.”

Lesnar has not appeared on WWE television since WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Texas, and considering this news it looks like he went straight to camp to get this fight done. It is a risky move considering that if Lesnar loses this fight it will be difficult to build him up as the monster he is for a SummerSlam feud no matter who his opponent is.

In an interview earlier with ESPN, Dana White discussed how a few weeks ago Brock Lesnar’s profile popped up on the active roster on UFC.COM. WWE noticed it, and so did Lesnar’s lawyers and White was on the receiving end of some legal phone calls to take it down immediately. White said there was nothing to it as they’re building a new database and the .COM people gave him a “whacky” explanation why he eventually popped up on the live site.
