Carmelo Hayes wins the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament

Carmelo Hayes became the second winner of the NXT Breakout Tournament which was concluded on last night’s episode of NXT on USA Network.

Hayes, who went through Josh Briggs and Duke Hudson in the prior two rounds, defeated Odyssey Jones in the tournament final to grab the victory and a chance to challenge for any NXT title he wants.

Hayes, 27, previously wrestled under the name of Christian Casanova and signed with WWE in February of this year. He made his NXT debut in June by accepting Kushida’s open challenge for the NXT Cruiserweight title.

The tournament winner has not announced which title he is going for yet and technically can go either for the North American, Cruiserweight, or NXT title.

This year’s NXT Breakout Tournament was the second one held so far, with the first one coming in 2019 and won by Jordan Myles who now uses the name of ACH.
