Cena travels to meet 19-year-old Ukrainian refugee with down syndrome

John Cena traveled to the Netherlands to meet a 19-year old Ukrainian refugee with down syndrome whose mother told him they were fleeing their home to go search for his idol.

The boy, a big wrestling fan whose room was full of John Cena posters, fled the Ukraine in March with his family after their home in Mariupol was destroyed in the war. Their story was part of a Wall Street Journal profile published in late May.

As you can imagine, the boy named Misha, was hugely disappointed when they reached their final destination and John Cena was not there.

Upon hearing about the story, the 16-time world champion made sure to correct that, and with three days off work from somewhere in Europe and just an hour away by plane from the Netherlands, the leader of the Cenation packed some merchandise, including a replica WWE title, and went to meet the family.

“Spending an afternoon building blocks and eating cake. That’s a special afternoon when it comes to the new friends I was able to meet,” Cena said after meeting the family.

Everything was captured on video, from the moment of Cena’s surprise arrival, to his departure. You can see the heart-warming story below.
