With Darren Young basically making WWE history, a lot of his peers and others in the wrestling business showed their support by posting messages on Twitter.
“Congratulations to @DarrenYoungWWE for being the first openly gay WWE Superstar,” tweeted Stephanie McMahon.
Steph’s husband Triple H also echoed his wife’s statement. ” “Congratulations, @DarrenYoungWWE for living YOUR life, YOUR way. #proud”
His tag team partner Titus O’Neal said that Young is like family to him and his kids and it won’t change, adding that he was very proud of him.
“Not a fan of the Prime Time Players, but tons of respect to Darren Young! Takes a lot of courage,” The Shield member Roman Reigns wrote.
“ENORMOUS courage out of @DarrenYoungWWE today! U should be very proud of urself Darren! #WhatAGreatExampleForOthers,” tweeted former WWE and TNA Superstar Matt Morgan.
Chavo Guerrero offered his support for Young and also gave kudos to John Cena for his supportive comments given to TMZ.
Gregory Helms, the man formerly known as the Hurricane, also had good words to say about Young. “Good job @DarrenYoungWWE Respect!! Somewhere my friend Kanyon is smiling down,” Helms wrote. Kanyon also came out as gay before he passed away.
WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart also chimed in on the situation. “I’m more than proud of Darren Young for having the courage to come out. The trust is that WWE & pro wrestling in general have long been ahead of the curve when it comes to accepting sexual orientations.”
