Curtis Axel released from WWE

Curtis Axel, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Mr Perfect Curt Hennig, was released from his WWE contract today.

WWE announced his release in a short statement saying, “WWE has come to terms on the release of Curtis Axel. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

The 40-year-old has been signed to a WWE deal since 2007, starting with Florida Championship Wrestling before being part of the second season of the old NXT format using the name Michael McGillicutty. Throughout the years, Axel has teamed up with Ryback, formed The Social Outcasts with Heath Slater and Bo Dallas, and also teamed up with Dallas to form The B-Team. He was also briefly managed by Paul Heyman in an experiment that didn’t work out as good as it was intended to.

He is a former Intercontinental champion and a two-time Raw Tag Team champion, winning the titles with David Otunga and Bo Dallas.
