Edge accepts Randy Orton’s challenge for a match at Backlash

The first match for Backlash 2020 was made official last night on Raw and it’s a big one as Edge accepted Randy Orton’s request for a straight-up, one-on-one wrestling match.

While Edge had a last man standing match at WrestleMania against Orton, the absolute majority of the match took place outside the ring and was more of a hardcore match backstage at the Performance Center.

Edge last week did not accept Orton’s request on the spot but returning to Raw again last night, Edge gave the green light. “Yes, yes I accept your damn challenge,” Edge responded to Orton after he kept getting pushed to “shut his mouth” and give an answer.

This will be his first proper wrestling match in a ring for the first time in nine years, dating back to WrestleMania XVII.

Backlash takes place on June 14 live from the WWE Performance Center on the WWE Network.
