WWE Network is set to air the first-ever pro wrestling show which is not owned by the company as EVOLVE’s 10th anniversary celebration will be airing live on July 13. The news was exclusively reported by TheWrap.com earlier today.
EVOLVE alumni and current WWE Superstars Adam Cole and Akira Tozawa will both be on the show as they wrestle each other for the NXT title. Matt Riddle, also a former EVOLVE fan favorite, will be taking on WWE Cruiserweight champion Drew Gulak in a non-title match.
“Evolve was the birthplace for many current WWE and NXT Superstars so it is only fitting that their 10th Anniversary Celebration will be showcased live on WWE Network,” Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative, told TheWrap.
EVOLVE 131 takes place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the WWE Network live stream starts at 8PM ET, on the same date and time as AEW’s Fight for the Fallen Event.
WWE and EVOLVE have enjoyed a working relationship for the past four years, a project spearheaded by Triple H and Gabe Sapolsky.
