FOX offered WWE assistance in securing CM Punk’s signature

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported this weekend that FOX has offered to help WWE sign CM Punk but the company was not interested in bringing back the former champion to its roster.

FOX initially asked WWE to make an offer to Punk but the network was told that the money Punk wanted was way too much for them. When FOX offered WWE to help out, probably financially, WWE made it clear that they were not interested as there were other problems with Punk, including his attitude.

CM Punk recently revealed in an interview that WWE did reach out through a third party and he requested that there are “no games” from WWE’s part in any negotiations, but said that some things never change.

FOX had a contract with Punk for his work on WWE Backstage on FOX Sports 1 and he was well-liked by the network which is why they pushed for WWE to sign him up.
