Jerry Lawler speaks from jail on arrest and what led to it

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler spoke with WMC Action News 5 from jail to discuss the events that led to his and his girlfriend’s arrest in the early hours of Friday morning.

Lawler said that he came home to find Lauryn completely drunk after a party where she and her friends watched game 6 of the NBA Finals. Funny enough, Lawler was just returning from a wrestling event titled A Night In The Slammer, a title which turned out to be the perfect name for his weekend.

“When she drinks we get into a little bit of a shouting match and then she wants to leave. I was not going to let her leave in the car, because she was not in any condition to drive. She got more and more upset,” Lawler said on the phone.

Lawler called the whole thing an unfortunate situation where “nobody was hit and nobody was hurt,” even though he told the police earlier that she scratched him in the face, threw a candle at him and kicked him in the groin. “It’s just something that happened as a result of drinking too much.” Lawler said.

“I’m saddened by it and hope we can get past this,” Lawler said when asked to give a message to his fans learning about the arrests.
