Jey Uso becomes #1 contender for the Universal title

An unexpected number one contender for the WWE Universal title will be challenging Roman Reigns at Clash of Champions later this month.

Last night on Smackdown on FOX, Jey Uso managed to beat Baron Corbin, Sheamus, and Matt Riddle in a fatal four-way match to earn a ticket to the pay-per-view. Uso got the win after he pinned Matt Riddle who had just hit his finisher on Corbin.

Jey was not even part of the match originally and replaced Big E who was the victim of an attack by Sheamus during the early part of the broadcast.

Uso has not been on WWE television much lately because his brother is out injured but showed up on Smackdown last night in a backstage segment congratulating Reigns for making the family proud by winning the Universal title. Reigns told him that he’s “busy” and that’s why he didn’t answer his call or texts all week but Jey told Reigns that he’ll always have his back.
