Two of the greatest who ever stepped foot inside a wrestling ring – John Cena and The Rock – paid tribute to Dolph Ziggler on social media after he was one of the 20 individuals cut yesterday.
“One thousand five hundred and fifty four matches. @HEELZiggler #Respect,” wrote John Cena on X.
The Rock followed a bit later on, saying these days are tough for those who gave their all in the ring.
“Like @HEELZiggler. What a decorated @WWE career and I’ll always be a supporter and fan. Can’t wait to see what he (and everyone) does next,” The Rock continued.
Ziggler spent 19 years with WWE and has the third most televised matches in WWE history with 1,554.
His championship cabinet is no joke either. Ziggler is a two-time World Heavyweight champion, one-time NXT champion, six-time Intercontinental champion, two-time United States champion, one-time Smackdown Tag Team champion with Bobby Roode, two-time Raw Tag Team champion with Drew McIntyre and Bobby Roode, and one-time World Tag Team champion with Spirit Squad.
Ziggler also won the 2012 Money In The Bank, successfully cashing in his briefcase on Alberto Del Rio the night after WrestleMania and got one of the loudest pops ever.
