John Cena underwent successful shoulder surgery yesterday in Birmingham, Alabama, and is now recovering at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Jeffrey Dugas performed the operation.
Cena tore his right rotator cuff, an injury which was never explained how it happened especially since Cena has been out of the ring for two months and only returned the day after Christmas. He made his last televised appearance for a while during the opening segment of Smackdown in a non-physical confrontation.
Fellow WWE Superstar and friend Cesaro accompanied Cena to the surgery. Cesaro, along with Seth Rollins, are rehabbing there from their respective surgeries. Dr. Dugas operated both of them as well.
A typical recovery for the injury Cena usually takes from 6 to 9 months, effectively putting him out of a WrestleMania match.
