Kana gets her new WWE name

Japanese female Superstar Kana was at the NXT television tapings yesterday at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, and was given her new WWE name.

The 33 year old from Osaka will now be wrestling under the name of Asuka, a tribute to multi-time champion and retired Japanese pro wrestler Lioness Asuka. Lioness Asuka had a 25 year pro wrestling career and was a major part of the All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling. She retired in 2005 after a neck injury.

The new Asuka taped an in-ring segment that will air on the September 23 edition of NXT on the WWE Network.
