Karrion Kross wins NXT title but suffers separated shoulder injury

The reign of the new NXT champion Karrion Kross could be a very short one as WWE has confirmed that Kross suffered a separated acromioclavicular joint during his match against Keith Lee yesterday at Takeover.

The injury was first revealed by Triple H during the post-Takeover conference call with the wrestling media, saying that Kross separated his shoulder sometime during the match but he wanted to continue anyway. The NXT medical team gave the go ahead for the match to continue, a match which eventually ended with Kross winning the NXT title.

The injury took place towards the final stages of the match when Lee clotheslined Kross and Kross landed awkwardly on his right shoulder, immediately clutching it. Kross tried avoid using his right hand as much as possible but still managed to perform some incredible feats of power despite the pain.

The new champ will be undergoing an MRI tomorrow to see how bad the injury is and Triple H is hoping that it’s something that they can work around. Non-surgical interventions would usually mean around a six-week recovery but if Kross has to go under the knife, his title reign will be over before it even started.

This was Kross’ seventh match in NXT and his second Takeover, breaking the record of the fastest way to the NXT title.rk
