Lashley gets WWE title opportunity tonight live on Raw

It is a big night for Bobby Lashley as the former United States champion and the enforcer of The Hurt Business gets his WWE title shot against new champion The Miz in the main event of Monday Night Raw.

Despite Lashley’s impressive career, he still never managed to get his hands on the WWE title and the only “major” title he won in the promotion was the WWE version of the ECW Heavyweight title in late 2006.

After he left WWE, Lashley joined Impact Wrestling and there he was treated as a main event player, winning the Impact World title a total of four times.

Speaking to the media, Lashley that if he beats The Miz tonight, he’d like a WrestleMania match against Drew McIntyre. While noting that a dream match against Brock Lesnar is still in his mind, he said that McIntyre was the one who beat Brock and Goldberg clean and carried the WWE title during a pandemic.

If Lashley beats Miz tonight, he becomes the third African American WWE champion, following The Rock – who identifies himself both as black and Samoan – and Kofi Kingston.
