Liv Morgan and Cody Rhodes win the Crown Jewel championships

Liv Morgan and Cody Rhodes became the inaugural Crown Jewel champions at the Crown Jewel premium live event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

WWE Women’s World champion Liv Morgan was the first one to win the title after she defeated WWE Women’s champion Nia Jax. The match had a lot of interference, first by Tiffany Stratton who teased cashing in and then the arrival of Raquel Rodriguez and Dom Mysterio. Rodriguez and Mysterio helped Liv get the upperhand and Morgan won after delivering an Oblivion.

After the match, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque came out to present Morgan with her new title as fans gave a standing ovation.

In the main event of the show, WWE Undisputed champion Cody Rhodes defeated WWE World Heavyweight champion Gunther in a classic match which had a hot crowd throughout.

The ending came when Cody tried a Cody Cutter from the top rope but Gunther caught him in a sleeper hold. Cody then reversed it, similar to how Bret Hart defeated Roddy Piper at WrestleMania 8, and pinned Gunther to win the match.

After the match, Gunther and Cody shook hands and Triple H came in with four Saudi officials – two men and two women – to present the Crown Jewel championship to Rhodes.

After fireworks went off and some more celebrations, Liv Morgan joined in the ring as the champs posed together, shook hands, saluted the crowd, and the show went off the air.
