NXT just wrapped up its live event in Osaka, Japan with cameras filming the event for inclusion in upcoming NXT TV episodes.
Perhaps the biggest surprise, although somewhat expected by many people, is that Shinsuke Nakamura has regained the NXT title from Samoa Joe in the main event of the show.
Nakamura, who is one of the most over stars in Japan, is now also a two-time NXT champion, regaining the belt after losing it at NXT Takeover: Toronto a few weeks ago on the eve of the Survivor Series. This is the second time that the NXT title changed hands in the Land of the Rising Sun. Last year, Finn Balor defeated Kevin Owens to win the title during the July 4 show event which was broadcast on the WWE Network.
Hideo Itami, who’s currently out injured again, also appeared and spoke to the crowd after he was introduced by NXT General Manager William Regal. Asuka wrestled on the show and defeated Nia Jax to retain the NXT Women’s title.
The NXT Tag Team champions DIY also took on Japanese talent, the tag team of Akira Tozawa and Tajiri, and retained the titles.
