Meiko Satomura announces April 2025 retirement

A press conference was held in Tokyo by Meiko Satomura where she announced that she will be retiring in the beginning of next year and will have her final match in April.

Her retirement announcement came after Tokyo Sports reported it on Friday and the date will coincide with her 30th anniversary in the business.

The Japanese legend also said that she will be wrestling select matches in her own Sendai Girls promotions in September and was also open to wrestle in other promotions. Emi Sakura, who wrestles for AEW, appeared at the same press conference to say that she wants to wrestle Satomura before she hangs up her boots.

Satomura has been under a WWE contract since 2020 where she was part of NXT UK. Her final televised appearance for the company was at the Roadblock 2023 event where she took on Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s title.

It’s unclear if WWE will play a part in her farewell tour although her final match will take place in Japan.

Satomura wrestled Bayley for the WWE Women’s title during today’s final show in Tokyo.
