Monday Night Raw TV report for 07/17/2023

Arena: State Farm Arena
City: Atlanta, GA

The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes comes out to the ring greeted by the fans chanting “Welcome Home” and Cody says Brock Lesnar should come to the ring and accept his challenge for SummerSlam. Cody introduced his mother who was in the front row and as he finished, Brock’s music came on, but Brock does not come out.

As Brock’s music comes on again, Cody marches to the back and Brock attacks him. After locking Cody in the Kimura lock twice, he accepted Cody’s challenge.

Matt Riddle VS. Gunther

Riddle goes floating bro but landed on Gunther’s knees, Gunther then landed a dropkick and powerbomb to get the win.

Winner: Gunther

After the match Gunther called out Drew McIntyre.

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez are interviewed about their match with Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green later tonight. As they say they will not back down to anyone, Rhea Ripley comes in and says not even me? They begin fighting and looks like Raquel injured her knee.

The Judgment Day comes to the ring. Rhea says both Finn and Damian are going to become world champions and Dominik is going to win the NXT North American Championship tomorrow night. As Dominik tries to talk the crowd boos louder and Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens come out to the stage.

Sami asked the crowd if they came here to see Dominik Mysterio talk and they yelled “No” and then Sami asked if they paid to see someone do it for him and that it is what is going to happen tonight. Damian says why don’t you put your championships on the line tonight if you are so sure. Sami said he needs to ask his partner. Kevin yells he doesn’t care if the titles are on the line as long as he gets to stun Damian Priest and put his fist through Dominik’s face.

In the back, the doctor clears Raquel Rodriguez but strongly urged her not to compete tonight and she said no we went through that when Liv got hurt, we are not going through that again. Adam Pearce says fine the match is still official.

Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan VS. Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Liv hit oblivion on Green, but Deville kneed her in the face to break up the count. After Green hits Liv with a second unprettier and Deville gives Liv a knee to her face. Green and Deville win.

Winners and New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions: Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green

Byron Saxton sits down and talks to Seth “Freakin” Rollins and what his plans are for defending the World Heavyweight Championship. Seth says Finn has earned a spot on the short list and there are other people also on the short list and as he started naming them, Finn comes in and tells Seth to do what he has to do and have Adam Pearce make the match.

Finn tells Seth he is going to hurt him and laugh in his face and alter his career forever and Seth said he is going to say this once and the World Championship is bigger than your vendetta and bigger than me and if you just want to settle a score we don’t need a match we can do that right here, right now so take your shot of get out of my face. Finn stands up and walks away then Seth asked the cameraman if they were done, and a chair comes flying in and Finn comes back and starts beating on Seth yelling at him to have Pearce make the match.

Alpha Academy & Maxxine Dupri VS. The Viking Raiders & Valhalla in a Vikings Rules Match

The Viking Raiders managed to win after Valhalla drove Maxxine through the table and Otis took out both Raiders until he went to the top ropes and Valhalla distracted him and the Vikings powerbombed him off the ropes for the win.

Winners: The Viking Raiders & Val Halla

Shayna Baszler VS. Nikki Cross

Nikki attacks Baszler but Baszler overcomes the attack and hooks Nikki in the Kirifuda Clutch for the win.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

Ronda Rousey interrupted after Baszler’s victory. Baszler told Ronda to bring her “happy ass” to the ring and settle this right now. As Baszler is stopped by officials, Ronda said I am going to do you a favor and get you booked on SummerSlam and it’s you against me. She then tells Baszler “See you at Summer Slam bitch” and walked away.

Ricochet is interviewed backstage, and they talk about Logan Paul declining a match with him because he wants a real match not just another social media moment. Ricochet challenges Logan Paul again for next week.

MizTV is next with the Miz and his special guest Becky Lynch. The Miz asked her about losing recently and she knows he has a surprise guest so bring her out before he loses his tiny balls. Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark came out. Trish then tells Becky she is not going to fight her.

Trish says we both beat you, so we are done with you and moving on. Becky kept talking to her and Trish finally agreed to fight her and has to go through Zoey Stark first. If Zoey beats Becky, she needs her to get on her knees and say, “Thank You Trish”. Zoey and Trish then attack Becky. Becky was able to take the protective gear off Trish’s face and chased Trish out of the ring then put on the face guard and headbutts Zoey Stark with it.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Bronson Reed

During the match Tommaso Ciampa comes out and hits Reed. Nakamura then kicks Ciampa.

Winner by Disqualification: Bronson Reed

Byron Saxton interviewed Nakamura who says he is tired of everyone getting in his business.

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn VS. Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio *For the undisputed Tag Team Championship.

Liv Morgan comes out and takes out Rhea Ripley. Sami sets Dominik up for the Helluva Kick but is caught by Priest. Owens runs in and gives Priest a Stunner, Sami then delivers the Helluva kick to Dominik and pins him.
