WWE’s Tribute to the Troops will be airing on Saturday, December 28, at 8PM EST on NBC this year, with no additional two-hour showing on USA Network as it was done before.
This year, former American Idol contestant and four-time Grammy nominee Daughtry will be the musical guest, performing on the show along with comedian Jeff Dunham.
Hosted by big WWE fan and Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle, Tribute to the Troops will feature taped messages from Will Ferrell, Bruce Willis, Ryan Seacrest, Christina Applegate, Stephen Colbert, and more.
“We are very proud to welcome WWE to Washington state, home of WWE greats like Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine and Daniel Bryan,” said Governor Jay Inslee. “The men and women in the military, and their families, serve our state and our nation with admirable dedication. I know they are looking forward to Tribute to the Troops, and we are looking forward to saying thanks for all they do.”
Colonel H. Charles Hodges, Jr., Joint Base Lewis-McChord Joint Base Commander said it’s a great honor to host WWE’s annual show. “This is a unique opportunity for our Service members and their families to be a part of something special. Many of our troops are passionate WWE fans, and the excitement is already building.”
Meanwhile, Vince McMahon, Big Show, R-Truth, Eva Marie, and Alicia Fox will be traveling overseas to meet the troops and to tape additional footage. Locations of these visits are kept secret due to security issues.
