Orlando confirms bid for WrestleMania 33 in 2017

The office of the Mayor of Orlando has confirmed that the city has submitted a bid to host WrestleMania 33 in 2017 however they have no word yet on the outcome.

“We have not received any notification and are waiting to hear just like other cities,” said Heather Fagan, deputy chief of staff for Mayor Buddy Dyer to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.

Reports earlier this week suggested that the city is now the favorite to host the event after WWE pulled out of Minneapolis which was favorite to get the show. Orlando hosted WrestleMania 24 back in 2008 and the state of Florida also got WrestleMania 28 in Miami in 2012.

WWE will be spending the weekend in Orlando next week for the Royal Rumble so if some kind of announcement is forthcoming, that would be the perfect place to do it. WWE usually announces the locality of the next WrestleMania a year in advance.
