During his segment last night on Raw, Kevin Owens announced that the KO Show confrontation with Stone Cold Steve Austin will be main eventing WrestleMania Saturday.
If this ends up being the final plan it would mean that it’s the first time in 38 years that a non-match would be closing WrestleMania. WWE is hyping this as a confrontation although there are still some rumors floating around that it will be much more than that come Saturday night.
Austin has not wrestled since WrestleMania 19 and is said to be in top physical condition. Ending WrestleMania with Steve Austin is the smartest thing to do and this would avoid a repeat of what happened at WrestleMania 18 when WWE chose to close the show with Triple H vs Chris Jericho rather than Hulk Hogan vs The Rock, which was the most anticipated match of the show.
WWE moved thousands of more tickets to WrestleMania when Austin’s involvement was announced so clearly fans are looking forward to the return of the Rattlesnake.
Speaking of WrestleMania Saturday, Seth Rollins’ match against the mystery opponent has also been moved to the first night after originally it was scheduled for WrestleMania Sunday.
